back to fort funston

we went back to fort funston a couple of weekends ago and boy, was the weather warm!  it was a little too warm for aaron and emma.  they were both panting.  haha.

shoreline run

a couple of weekends ago aaron the shoreline run - it is a 4 mile race which consists of 3-1/2 loops of gravel and hills.  i was debating if i should run it but when i ran the warm up with aaron and saw what the course consists of, i said no thank you.

disney treasure trove

a couple of weeks ago i treated lianne and my mom to disney's treasure trove.  lianne was into all the princesses - it was cute watching her react to everything.  afterwards we went to japan town and had shaved ice.  lianne thought it was a different kind of ice cream.

i run to be . . .

i wanted to run the nike run that they have every year in october in san francisco, but my name was not picked back in april.  someone was selling theirs on craigslist, so i bought it and ran the nike half marathon this morning.  you would think for a run that starts at 7:00 am in sf, that it would be a little chilly.  nope - it was actually a little humid and the temperature was 66.  i wanted to come in by two hours and my official time was 1:59:10. 

i run to be strong, fierce, free, happy, and to be able to eat whatever i want :)

oktoberfest 5k

aaron's first oktoberfest 5k in campbell on saturday.  he placed 20th overall and came in 10th in his age division.  go aaron!

my friend aimee and i did the san jose rock and roll on sunday.  it was aimee's first half since she had her second son - 18 months ago.  aaron was our official photographer - he appeared out of nowhere like a paparazzi.

fort funston

we spent saturday afternoon at fort funston in san francisco with tin, huong, gus, and shawn.  this beach is awesome.  dogs get to be off leash and the beach goes on forever.  there are so many pathways too if you don't want to walk on the beach.  we looked at the trail map and the beach goes all the way to san francisco zoo.  maybe next time we'll have a picnic on the beach and see how far we can go. 

gus loves running off leash - he would take off and eventually comes back.  at one point we thought we lost him, but he found his way back to us.  huong and i started collecting unbroken sand dollars - i will start a collection and put it in one of my mason jars.

estate sale

last weekend we were up at diamond springs to help with the estate sale.  90% of the stuff came from aunt lil's bolinas and san francisco homes.  the other 10% came from clara's place. friday we made a little over $3,000.  saturday we made a little under $1,000.  sunday we made about $500.  and there were still tons of stuff left.  most of the leftovers will go to hospice.

estate sale opened at 8:00am and antique dealers were lining up.  they were already eyeing the items and ran to those itmes when we let go of the rope!

i can't believe it's been a year since we rescued dexter.  seems like he's been with us forever.  he turned 10 and we celebrated by me baking him his own cake.  i was going to go buy a doggie cupcake, but the place was closed.  and then i was going to put some candles on the cake, but couldn't find any, so i improvised and wrote "10" with cream cheese.

ingredients: peanut butter, shredded carrots, honey, vegetable oil, vanilla, flour, baking soda

dexter just sniffed the cake when i put him on the chair - didn't even try eating it.  such a good boy!

emma on the other hand, was whining when i told her to "leave it" and had to really really really refrain from gulping down the piece of cake
