DIY candy cane wreath
i saw a DIY (do-it-yourself) candy cane wreath and wanted to do the same thing. well, it turned out the wire hangers i had were not very easy to manipulate, so i went to michael's and got floral wire. i bought two yards of the red and two yards of the white tulle (also known as mesh). i had no idea what mesh was - i guess it's another term for tulle??? i cut the tulle into strips and wrapped it around the floral wire. i was able to do two candy canes and i think it turned out really cute. i have one hanging on the front door and one in our family room.
thanksgiving & a birthday
we hosted thanksgiving and we made the following dishes: standing rib roast, broccoli salad, fruit salad, copper pennies (marinated carrots), and mash potatoes. mom and dad brought over soup and we had a bunch of dessert - flan, pies galore, and tiramisu.
standing rib roast - i don't think i will ever eat turkey again for thanksgiving. this was delicious! aaron did a great job. we got the 7.27lb roast from costco. aaron rubbed it with garlic, garlic salt, and i'm probably forgetting several other seasoning he put on it. cooked in the oven at 450 for 1/2 an hour, then 350 for 1-1/2.
we also celebrated dad's birthday. lianne and pierce assisted by blowing out the candle. :)

happy halloween
last year i saw an ewok costume for a dog and i wanted to make one for dexter, because dexter looks like an ewok. :) well, this year i remembered and i made him one! took me less than 5 minutes. to go with the star wars theme, i got a princess leia costume for emma. don't worry, i didn't torture them too long in the costumes.

poor mr. dex
dexter was cold, so aaron wrapped him up in a fleece blanket and dexter was so comfortable he started snoring. poor guy. i need to find him a sweater.
hanging out in sf
after seeing the painted ladies, we headed to land's end along the great highway. aaron and i never knew that there was a trail here and the view of the golden gate bridge was cool.
| they were making me nervous by standing close to the cliff |
| too bad we do not have these stairs near our house - do you know how fit we would be?!?! |
painted ladies
i've always wanted to check out the row of houses known as "painted ladies" that was on the tv show full house and some other movies. at least now i can say i've seen it in person. i expected the houses to be more colorful - maybe the paint got faded throughout the years? i really wanted to go in one of them to check out the inside, but people are living there, so i couldn't.
nike half marathon
ami and thanhha ran their first half marathon on 10.14.12 and they ran an awesome race! i knew that thanhha's legs were killing her at the end, but was able to pushed herself to finish in 3:00:54. looking forward to our next half marathon - tinkerbell at disneyland in january. i can't wait!!!

genji rolling around
first thing genji did when we let him out in the back yard was rolled around. so cute.
house full of dogs
a couple of weeks ago we dog sat lei's two dogs, genji and shukie for a week. every night we had four dogs on our queen size bed. genji and shukie were loving it because they got two walks every day - apparently they do not get their walks often. and these dogs only eat meat flavored treats. tried to give them homemade doggie treats, but unless they were meat flavored, they turned their noses on them.
