another day at the park

we try to take emma to a different park every weekend and this weekend was serra park in sunnyvale.  emma loves chasing little birds around - if she could, we think she would play chase all day :)  we also found out that she likes chasing frisbees.  some kids were tossing it around and she would chase after it.  we'll have to stop by the store and get a frisbee.  emma will sleep good tonight!

we didn't want emma to choke on the raw hide, so aaron pried it open with pliers and got the good stuff in the middle out for emma (it was originally rolled up - raw ride on the outside and good meaty stuff in the middle)

ryan and jeremy paid us a visit and we had a great time.  after dinner we went to get some yummie yogurt - the boys had chocolate yogurt and they topped it off with m&ms, rainbow and chocolate sprinkles.  yes, leah let them have some :)  afterwards, we went to las palmas park and the boys had a great time running around with aaron and emma.

emma for the most part gets along with other dogs great, but when we take her on walks and there is a dog coming towards her, she would bark like crazy.  stacy from wag n train came out and taught me how to train emma not to bark - how to watch for her body language and to anticipate her barking.

i took emma to campbell park on sunday and see if i could train her not to bark at other dogs.  i had my two weapons in hand - a clicker and one of her favorite treats, cheese.  we were out there for an hour and she did great - not even a peep out of her.  small and big dogs were walking towards her and as soon as i clicked, emma sat and made eye contact with me.  i was so proud of her and i couldn't wait to come home and tell aaron.

yesterday we took emma to a park at rivermark and she did awesome too!   wow.  emma is definitely treats motivated.  now when she hears the clicker, she automatically sits down and make eye contact with you.  hopefully in time she won't need treats, but hey, as long as she's calm and doesn't bark at dogs, she could have all the treats she wants!

emma also learned how to shake - well, we say paw instead of shake.  we tried to say shake before, but she just didn't get it.  maybe we weren't doing it right :)  anyways, this weekend she got it!  we are proud parents of our little furry baby :)

need some zzzz's

for the past 5 nights aaron and i took the guest mattress into the living room and slept.  mainly because of the doggies.  we figured since we can't have all three dogs on our bed, we might as well go to their level so they wouldn't bark at night wanting to be up on the bed.  it worked, for the most part. 

lei and nam were supposed to pick up shukie and genji last night, but there was something wrong with their plane.  after they boarded, the engine light came on and they all had to unboard.  uh, okay.  next flight only had 50 seats available, so they let the passengers who didn't check in luggage on the flight.  since lei and nam checked in luggage, they couldn't get on.  mechanic people came out and fixed the plane and i found out from lei this morning that she did not get home till 2:00am!  fixed the plane???  i think i would have drove home.  dear lord. 

nam came this afternoon and picked up emma's friends.  it was fun having all three dogs in the house, well, most of the time :) and i do miss genji and shukie.   i however can't want to get a good night's rest tonight!
