pupcakes

while aaron was racing this morning, i stayed home and made pupcakes for emma and dexter ;)  five minutes after i put the pupcakes in the oven, i saw the minced apples sitting on the counter.  oops.  i took the pupcakes back out and mixed the apples in the dough and realized that i also forgot to put in the cheddar cheese too!  i don't think emma and dexter will complain :)

ingredients: apple, oatmeal, yogurt, honey, cheddar cheese
frosting: low fat cream cheese and honey
garnish: carrots

feeling better

yesterday after dinner we took emma and dexter to bowers park.  emma wanted to chase a dragonfly and took off.  it surprised aaron so he dropped her leash.  i wish i would have caught it on video - aaron running after emma and emma chasing the dragonfly.  dexter and i just watched and i laughed.  as you can see from the video below, dexter is feeling better :)

bocce ball

we got to leave work early yesterday and went to play bocce ball in los gatos.  never played before and  i'm not sure if i understand the game completely, but it was fun.  we had 4 teams and after several rounds, the winners played with the winners and losers played with the losers.  yep, i was on the losing team :)  but then our team beat the other losing team.  everyone had fun and the company could host another bocce event any day!

my poor baby dexter

on tuesday we had to take dexter to the vet because there was some oozing coming out of his left shoulder area.  not sure why there was another abcess.  vet thinks it could be a scratch that he got when he was at the shelter that never healed, or a dog scratched at him, or he got the abcess from getting vaccinations, which the vet said is rare.  we have to keep an eye on dexter to see that he doesn't get another abcess because if he does, the vet said there might be something going on with his immune system.  he is back on antibiotics and is on pain medication.  there is less oozing now, but he still feels some pain.  apparently when dogs shake, it usually means that they are in pain.  i hope he feels better soon and back to his usual sweet self.  one thing he's happy about is that he longer needs to wear the e-collar.

dexter is settling in quite nicely.  he loves going on walks - and i discovered yesterday that he knows the word walk.  he gets super excited and emma just stares at him.  he is super friendly with everyone - people, cats, squirrels, etc.  when you hold him, he plops his head down on your should and nuzzles you.  i need to get this on video.  it is the cutest thing.  and it's really cute when dexter nuzzles next to emma when they go on walks.  i love our two furry babies :)

lianne loves eating ice cream.  she knows that every sunday after dinner at grandma's and grandpa's, she gets a treat.

baby no more

i can't believe that pierce is 9 months old already.  how time flies.  stephanie took him to get his first haircut last week - i told her that i could have done it myself ;)  at least they didn't charge her anything for it. 

a new addition to our family :)

here is dexter hanging out with emma (she's the one in the background).  we got him from muttville.  he is a 9-year old shih-tzu who has one eye.  here is dexter's story - his owner passed away 3 years ago and dexter was handed down to her adult children.  the children already had their own dog and a couple of weeks ago got another dog and brought dexter to the shelter. we don't know what happened to his other eye, but don't tell him - he is a happy little doggie.   it's okay because we were lucky to have found him and now he is a part of our family :)  why is he wearing an e-collar?  on 9/3/10 his foster mom brought him to the emergency vet because he had an abcess where his eye used to be and it had to be drained.  so far he's been doing great with emma.  one thing i found out about dexter is as soon as you park your car, he has this little cute whine "get me out - i want to check out what's out there!"  emma just looks at him like he's crazy.  he's houstrained and is a little cuddlebug.  the name he came with was GUY, but we decided to change it to dexter - which i think suits him so much better!

golden gate park

the family was supposed to head out to golden gate park for a picnic and check out the japanese tea garden.  dad wasn't feeling well, so mom stayed home.  tuan had to meet with a client, so we said no worries, next time!  the rest of us managed to get out to golden gate park by 11:00, had a picnic, and walked around stow lake.
